there’s something about the color yellow it can be both light & heavy at the same time… especially when painting with yellow, it’s so saturated yet transparent… it takes multiple coats or a thickening agent to make it dense… just playing with the idea of what gives things weight or how to give things weight… also the idea of light having weight…

lately i’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about the power of words… how they carry weight… how contexts then affects how we view/feel about those words…

my second grade teacher always started the day off playing motown records… as a kid i didnt get it, now i look back and realize the significance of that small act… it was the best way to reset the day anew… it got us dancing, forgetting all our troubles… lifting our moods… and since it ‘s the last day of april, which has been a terrible no good month for me personally… i’m bringing in may with some motwon magic to wipe away all the worries and heartache…

i wish i could runaway to the american museum of natural history…

Walt Disney’s short film from 1946 “The Story of Menstruation”, in part with Kotex.  It was part of a series of scientifically accurate films that Disney produced in 1945-1951 to show in schools.  It is believed to be the first film to ever mention the word “vagina”, but the menstrual flow was depicted as white instead of bloody.
